Easter Eggs: Have You Found One In Your Car?
Here are some of our favourite quirky 'easter eggs'
Whilst this time of year tends to be a little chocolate crazy, it’s not just Easter eggs in the edible sense that catch our attention. Many car makers hide ‘Easter eggs’ around their vehicles, creating a quirky surprise upon their discovery. Have you got one in your car? Here are some of our favourites…
Volvo XC90
Although less Easter and more Halloween, the XC90 has got an 8-legged friend hidden in the armrest storage bin that you can spot all year round. It’s not entirely clear why Volvo put a spider on the lid of the armrest bin between the driver and the front passenger seat, but if you’ve got an XC90 on the drive, you may want to take a peek at the little critter that accompanies you on every journey.
Jeep Wrangler
Jeep are big fans of an Easter egg, and if you’re a Wrangler driver, it’s worth taking a look at the alloys, as you may be able to see a small depiction of the original military-based ‘Willys’ Jeep, which was a World War II vehicle. These were only added to certain models, so it’s pretty cool if you’re able to spot it.
Skoda Octavia
If you’re dashing off on a frosty day and find yourself without an ice scraper, it can be a touch frustrating; not if you’re a Skoda Octavia driver, though! Hidden in the fuel cap is a handy little ice scraper, so it’s something to hunt for that has a practical purpose too.
Vauxhall Corsa
As dynamic as Vauxhall Corsas are, you hardly expect to find one of the world’s scariest creatures on board. However, that’s exactly what’s hiding in the glovebox of Corsas dating back to 2004, after its designer needed a way to reinforce the glovebox hinges, and a cartoon shark did just the job. This was a suggestion of Corsa interior designer Dietmar Finger’s son, whose bright idea now lives on in one of the UK’s best-loved hatchbacks.
Jaguar E-Pace
You’re never far from the iconic Jaguar emblem when you’re in one of their prestigious cars, but in the E-Pace, your challenge is to find the one that isn’t alone. Hidden at the bottom of the windscreen you’ll find a mother and cub - very cute indeed.
Volkswagen ID 3
When was the last time you looked at the pedals in your car? We’re willing to bet that it wasn’t recently, but if you’re the proud owner of a Volkswagen ID 3, you may want to glance at them - just not while you’re driving, of course. You’ll find pause and play symbols on the accelerator and the brake; hopefully we don’t need to tell you which symbol is on which pedal…
Tesla Model S
If you’re a big Bond fan and also happen to have a Tesla Model S on your drive, your secret agent dreams are about to be realised - press and hold the Tesla logo on the touch screen, and enter ‘007’ when you’re prompted. A white Lotus Espirit (yes, like the one from The Spy Who Loved Me) appears! You can then select your depth in ‘leagues’, which can raise or lower the car to your liking.
Jeep Renegade
What is it with car manufacturers and spiders? Volvo aren’t the only one in on the insect action - Jeep Renegade models have a cheeky spider lurking under the fuel cap - a speech bubble with ‘ciao’ written inside it is present too.
